akov
Hi All, A possibly very lame question. I'd like to buy a Nikkor lens that is marked with G. That would mean, this lens doesn't have an aperture ring. The question is, how can I set aperture value on the F801s? I have the original camera manual, but it only mentions lens with an aperture ring. Is there a possibility to use this type of lens or should I forget G optics? Thank you. ShunCheung
The F801s (N8008s) has no sub-command dial. Therefore, you cannot directly set the lens aperture from the body. You can still use exposure modes S (shutter priority) or P (program). When you set the shutter speed, you will be indirectly controlling the aperture. In other words, you can use G lenses on the F801s, or for that matter anything in the N8008/F801 and N90/F90 family, but it is not fully compatible and therefore somewhat inconvenient. Jerry_
...and if you use a good tripod, the F801s will also work in 'A' mode, but only at the smallest f-stop.
