baby_penguin
I am looking for a quality camera bag for 2 camera bodies and a few(maximum 5)lenses (including prime and zoom lenses). I've been recommended Domke F3X and Domke F6, I would like to ask ifthey provide good protection to the equipments? However, I find ithard to get Domke in England, can anyone tell me where can I get them, please? Moreover, I have also been recommended Billingham, which seemsto be more popular in this country. Which model of Billingham suits myequiment best? In addition, I am also looking for a case for my Nikkor 300mm f2.8lense. Domke J300 is what I have been told. Does anyone know if thereany compatible case of Billingham for this particular prime? Thank you very much!
ellis_vener_photography
The best protective cases you can buy for your equipment are Lightware cases, Lightware, Inc. Billingham's are made in England so they probably are easier to find in the UK.
Domke specializes in designing and making camera bags for working photo-journalists. i love my Domke bags, but if you are looking for bags that are designed to treat your gear like fine crystal, I'd stick with Billingham. gwilburn
What style bag are you looking for? Are you considering backpack style? I just picked up a LowePro MicroTrekker 200 backpack that holds almost exactly what you are describing. One of my prime lenses is 300mm and quite large and the bag holds that easily. Tripod straps at the base of the bag.
Brian
I have a Billingham shoulder bag (I think it's the 335) and it easily holds 2 35mm SLR bodies plus 4 lenses plus all the little accessories. The canvas construction is fairly rigid so it's very tough and strong but not very convenient for getting things in and out in the field. The shoulder strap is big and broad so carrying is OK. To my mind, it doesn't look like a camera bag, which may be an advantage.
pc1
how about checking here : http://www.thermodyneonline.com/product.htm these can really protect your camera gear , but if you need quick access , i don't think it's gonna happen.... pc
joe_garrick
How well protected do you want to be? For maximum protection, get a Haliburton aluminum case - virtually indestructible, but instantly recognizable as expensive photo gear and so your stuff will be stolen the first time you set it down out of arms reach. For hard cases, I'm personally a fan of second-hand shop hard-sided luggage - just customize the inside for your stuff and you're set, with the added benefits of not only looking like a well traveled veteran, but also not looking like expensive gear. For soft cases, I've been mighty pleased over the years with my Tamrac bag - plenty of room and nothing has ever been damaged or gotten wet, despite the bag going on several wilderness trips in bad weather. I've used it pretty hard and it's held up well - over more than a decade I haven't worn out at a corner, torn a zipper, or broken a clip of any kind. carrie_williams1
I just purchased the Tamrac 5275 Backpack case that holds 2 camera bodies and 6 lenses as well as several smaller items. It's made really well and it will even hold a tripod. You can also buy modular accessories to add to the backpack to hold film, etc. www.canogacamera.com has the best prices that I've found. They have many bags to choose from.
matt_wallace
You might also try a pelican case. These cases are hard sided and absolutely indestructible--they are also completely waterproof and lockable. They come in a variety on sizes and are fairly inexpensive. Try bhphotovideo.com and search for Pelican cases or got directly to pelican.com. Good luck! Matt
