  1. Hi everyone, By means of introduction, my photography journey has been as follows: 1990-2000 - Canon AE-1, A1, 35mm film SLRs, which I adored 2005-2015 - Nikon Professional full frame DSLRs with the amazing ‘holy trinity’ of lenses (14-24mm f/2.8, 24-70mm f/2.8, 70-200mm f/2.8) which felt so technically perfect that you wondered whether you were controlling the camera or the camera was controlling you 2015-2023 - Leica M3, Leica MP film rangefinders, beautiful in their own way, but never enjoyed them as much as SLRs All have been eventually sold. Next I’m looking for a film SLR - and I’m considering either: Canon F-1N (i.e. the third generation of F-1, after the F-1 and F-1n) Nikon FM3a Both very different cameras, but unique in their own way. The F1-N, the pinnacle of Canon professional film SLRs, with tank like construction. The FM3a, the last ever Nikon film SLR. Both are mechanically quite complex with (different types of) hybrid mechanical/electronic shutters. Is one going to be more of a problem to own when it comes to longevity, complexity of repair etc.? Is one much nicer to use than the other? Has anyone used both regularly who can offer some ideas? Of course, the answer is to buy both, but in that case, which one should I aim for first?   2. The good news is that a widow gave me a camera bag full of her late husband's equipment. There were 3 lenses and the one I tried out today is a Tokina SD 12-24 (IF) DX I mounted it on my Canon 70D and shot a few frames on my home from work before it got dark outside. I shot at 24 mm and then moved it to 12mm but got an error that the lens was not communicating. So I turned off the camera, took the lens off and and turned it back on. That worked but it wont shoot at 12mm. I noticed in the viewfinder the black edges or vignette. I never had a lens this wide and was hoping to get some real estate photos. The camera in the bag is a Cznon EOS digital rebel XTi. So the question is Canthis camera and lens work together?
  3. I have a couple of Cell II-N for my Nikon camera and 120J strobe. It triggers fine except for the occasional misfires (fires without me press anything). Anyway, I don't need TTL as I am just using some Sunpak 120J or other generic flashes. My question is Would the Cells II-N as a transmitter attached to a Nikon camera, able to trigger a Cells II-C act as a receiver attached to any flash or strobes and be able to do Hypersync. With a pair of Cells II-N I have no issue doing hypersync at full flash power up to 1/8000s.
  4. Hi, I'd like to attach my canon full frame dslr to my 4x5 wista field. Do you have any suggestion regarding the lens. I thought of an 50mm enlarger lens. But which lens would fit which lens board?
  5. Hello, I have a Canon A-1 that I purchased in late 2018. I used it quite a bit and then it sat for about a month. When I went back to use it the battery had died. Knowing that these batteries are supposed to last about a year I replaced it. I went to use it a week later, and the new battery had died. I started doing some research and discovered that some people have had similar issue. One possible cause (as far as i know) could be corrosion under the top cover. I pulled it apart and the only thing i found resembling corrosion was on the 2 "prongs" that are used for the hot shoe. I cleaned them to the best of my ability and put it back together. Could this be the issue? The other common issue i could find was the circuit board going bad. Any advise would be much appreciated,
  6. Hello everyone, I bought white balance cards and I found white and black cards with the grey one. When do I use the white and the black one? What is the best way to use the card? Till now I put the grey card in the scene shoot the scene on auto white balance mode, and then I edit the color in Lightroom according to this photo. Am I doing it right? By the way I shoot mostly food and products. Thanks in advance :)

  9. Results of one 35mm roll developed in a Patterson 2 reel tank via c-41. Other roll in tank came out near perfect. The negatives looked very dark and hazy overall. tried repeating BLIX and Stab and all that resulted was the extra dark marks. Help ? Shot on
